Tips, links and books to help you with your German grammar
Course Books for Adults Learning German
Each book has been created to prepare you for an examination at the Goethe Institute at that particular level of German if you choose to do so and also includes a practice paper at the end of the book.
These books are written entirely in German which may make A1 a little bit challenging at the beginning if you are using it on your own, but it certainly gets you to move on fairy quickly with a little bit of extra work such as looking up some words. If you need help with that, please let me know.
The following books are used for adult education along the European Framework which was put together by the Council of Europe as a way of standardising the levels of language exams in different regions. It is very widely used internationally.
There are 6 levels which are A1 (Beginner), A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 (Advanced levels)
I added this group of books which are very similar to the row above though they are divided into 12 chapters instead of 8.
They also have the extra features like end of book test, online material etc.
If you prefer slightly shorter chapters you may find these books helpful. Otherwise they cover the same material as the other group.
